I have a real bed!

I had my first day off yesterday and I finally got a real bed last night. It beats the bare mattress and towels by a million. I also set up a new bank account with First Hawaiian Bank. I went on my first dive two days ago (29th). I got to see a mother shark giving birth at Ice Box and a lot of life including many sea turtles as Sheraton Caverns.

Day 1

WOW. Yesterday was looong. I woke up at 7am Eastern time and went to sleep at 12am HI time (6am EST). The plane rides were fine and I ended up getting a $450 voucher for Southwest airlines and a $12 lunch voucher after a little confusion at the gates... Raymond picked me up from the airport last night, showed me a little around Lihue, and brought me back to his place. It is very rustic but will do. I woke up this morning at 6am (12pm EST) naturally. Roosters were crowing and there was even one right outside my window. I rode my bike to Seasport Divers and got to meet a bunch of the crew that works there. They are all real cool. Marvin let me use one of his bikes and lent me one of his pickup truck. Man that this is a POS. Zac had to come help me out after the truck broke down after about 4 miles. Luckily it was only the cluch cylinder and the truck was parked when it happened. I went to the beach with Mike and Holly. It was cool and pretty. The views were nice too (a woman was walking with one of her breasts hanging out of her bathing suit). It was funny. Pics to come soon!

T Minus 1 Week

I have said some good bye's already and it has made me come to the realization that I am truly leaving home to go to Hawaii. The whole idea is mind blowing. I finally found a nice place to live, close to work and play. The guy who is renting the place out, Raymond, is totally off the wall and will be very neat to live with. We also share some of the same interests so it seems we will get along. The place seems really cool too. The house is located on a plantation with mango and banana trees in the back yard. The house itself seems nice too. It is older and more rustic than what I would find if I were to rent an apartment but is made mostly of wood and has character.

Details, Details, Details

So somethings I know. Some I don't. Right now, I know where I will be going and who I will be working for: Seasport Divers [http://seasportdivers.com/] in Kauai. I will probably be working in the Poipu shop. I know my departure date, Thursday, May 24th 2007 and arrival time, 10:14 PM. I have a general idea of how much money I will be making. I don't know if I will get any health benefits. I hear the cost of living in HI is high. I don't know where I will be living. I don't know what exactly I will be doing in the shop. I don't know what to bring with me besides my scuba equipment, some board shorts, and a towel. There is a lot of information that I do not know at this moment. One thing I do know is that it is going to be an amazing experience. It is something I must do now or never. And I am going to do it!
